RECENT EVENTS
On May 2, over 60 guests joined the Society at our railside tent
for our 14th annual trip to the Virginia Gold Cup in The Plains,
VA. Below, Society President Brian Mahar and Connecticut's Cherry
Blossom Princess Liz Malerba enjoy the races. View

For the third consecutive year, the Society took part in Hands
on DC, an all-volunteer non-profit effort that runs an annual
one day work-a-thon to improve conditions in DC's public schools
and raises money for college scholarships. This year we helped
to paint murals at the KIPP AIM School in Southeast DC on April
25. It's our way of giving back to our home away from Connecticut.

For the first time in several years, Connecticut was represented
at the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Below, Connecticut Cherry
Blossom Princess Liz Malerba of Uncasville is escorted at the
Grand Ball by her escort, Travis Cronin of West Hartford. View
more pictures or read more about it in the New
London Day.
Our annual Congressional reception on February 10 was a huge success
with over 200 people joining us at the historic Mansfield Room in
the U.S. Capitol. Below, Society President Brian Mahar and Congressman
Chris Murphy listen to Senator Chris Dodd. We were also honored
to hear from Congressman Joe Courtney. Congressman John Larson and
Congressman Jim Himes took time out of ther busy schedules to stop
by as well. It's a chance every year for us to express how much
we appreciate the service they and their staff members provide for
Connecticut and the nation. View
