CT Society #2 Seed in National Conference of State Societies Softball Tournament

The Connecticut Society earned a #2 seed in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region with its 2-2 record in regional play at the NCSS "Summer Insanity" Softball Tournament on July 27. Led by 5 straight hours of ace pitching by Jim O'Connell, Gold Glove defense by Adam Kowalsky and a balanced offensive attack, Connecticut swept Rhone Island, while dropping two close games to New Jersey. Manager and CT Society President Mike McKiernan will lead the team into the World Series in late September. If you're interested in playing, email our softball team at

Connecticut Society & UConn Alumni Raise $2500 for Sandy Hook Charities

More than 100 people attended, including U.S. Reps. John Larson, Rosa DeLauro and Jim Himes. The groups brought in more than $2,500, which will be donated to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, established by the United Way of Western Connecticut to support the community, and the Sandy Hook Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Connecticut. Read about it in the Hartford Courant.

The event was held at the Tortilla Coast restaurant, which donated the food and the space for the reception; servers at the restaurant donated their time as well.

Members of the CT Society spent the morning laying wreaths at the graves of Connecticut heroes, joining thousands of volunteers in honoring those laid to rest at Arlington. We all took the time to reflect on their service and sacrifice during this holiday season.
