For the third consecutive year, the Society took part in Hands on DC, an all-volunteer non-profit effort that runs an annual one day work-a-thon to improve conditions in DC's public schools and raise money for college scholarships. This year we helped to paint murals at the KIPP AIM School in Southeast DC on April 25. It's our way of giving back to our home away from Connecticut. View more pictures. American Warrior is an organization based in Norwich that brings Connecticut World War II veterans to DC for a Day of Honor to see their memorial and visit many of DC’s other memorials to those who served our nation. From giving a hero’s welcome at National Airport to viewing the Iwo Jima Memorial at dusk, I think those of us who participated will agree that it was a moving experience we will never forget. On September 26, we joined with other State Societies to fly the Connecticut flag at the National Moment of Remembrance at the U.S. Capitol. The White House Commission on Remembrance was established to honor the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers and their families. It was a moving ceremony and we were proud to meet and thank the families of several Connecticut soldiers who sacrificed their life for our nation. View more pictures.

It was our best season so far and we're looking forward to an even better record next year. photo album. As New Englanders know so well, there's always next year.
